When I was 19, my father died of cancer. He was a CPA, respected in our community, and the owner of a small firm he’d built from the ground up. But despite all his knowledge and financial acumen, the truth is—his estate plan only scratched the surface of what we needed.
In the weeks and months after his passing, our lives became a storm of grief, paperwork, and mounting bills. His firm had to be wound down. There was no clear succession plan for ongoing business that would benefit our family, and clients slowly drifted away. The cancer bills continued to arrive, reminders of a battle that had already taken so much from us.
The estate plan existed—but it was more of a formality than a foundation. Documents were in place, but they didn’t prepare us for the decisions that would come fast and hard. There was no real protection for assets, and no clear instruction for how to manage what he left behind. My mother was left scrambling to pick up the pieces while trying to mourn someone we loved. She did a phenomenal job carrying on his legacy and life as we new it.
I share this story not to scare you, but to say: I’ve been there. I know what it feels like to face life’s unexpected turns without a roadmap.
And that’s why I do this work.
At HGL, we help clients go beyond basic estate planning. We don’t just fill out forms—we build strategy, protection, and peace of mind. We talk through the hard "what ifs"—illness, divorce, business transitions, death—so that if (and when) the unexpected happens, your legacy and your loved ones aren’t left holding only half the plan.
Because life doesn’t pause for paperwork.
We help secure what matters most—so your assets go exactly where they belong, and your family is cared for, not just legally, but emotionally and financially too.
Don’t wait. Plan with purpose.
